The Bulletin Bored: Working Groups

(Issue 35)

Welcome back for another issue of The Bulletin Bored, where I provide news, analytics, and other information on the Apecoin DAO and broader BAYC ecosystem.

I hope everyone enjoyed a happy, safe and healthy New Year’s Celebration. As we turn the page to 2023, the three new Special Council members (Vera, Gerry, and BoredApeG) have officially joined the two existing members (Yat and Alexis). I’ve been impressed and excited by their level of activity and engagement with the community these past few weeks. It certainly feels like “Chapter 2” of the DAO is starting.

  • The three new Special Council members (Vera, Gerry, and BoredApeG) joined the two existing members (Yat and Alexis) on January 1, 2023

  • If AIP-196 passes, Badteeth is asking Discourse Trust Level 2 members to DM him their wallet address on Discourse to be included in WGv0 (Working Group Version Zero)

  • If AIP-196 passes, Badteeth is also asking anyone wanting to nominate themselves for one of the four WGv0-elected Steward positions to complete a form before January 7th (which can be found under WGv0 Eligibility - Item 6 here)

The Delegation site built by Brian Wagner and Maaria Bajwa is now live. You can find the link below, as well as my delegation statement.

The Special Council Election period had the most Voting Power in the history of the DAO. The Nomination period had the fourth-highest.

There is one proposal in the Live Voting stage this week.

Badteeth and 24 others (including myself) have worked on a 3-month Transition Plan to further decentralize the Cartan Administrator Team’s responsibilities by shifting them to the Community.

The proposal involves creating a Working Group Zero (WGv0) that would be responsible for:

Anyone who meets at least one of the following community engagement requirements would be eligible to join WGv0:

  • Level 2 or higher in Discourse

  • 50k Apecoin or more in voting power

  • Voted on 50% or more of all Snapshot votes

Among the WGv0 participants, there would be 7 “Stewards” who would be responsible for:

  • Administrative oversight

  • Budgeting based on the needs of WG0 as approved by the Special Council

  • Reporting on all WG0 activities between the Special Council, the Administrators, and the Community

You can find the full proposal here and the current voting results are below.

Mantis is proposing to put the full wording of the DAO Constitution and all other founding documents in the FAQ section. Here is the full idea as posted in Discourse.

Last week, I shared an idea for a “Beta Testing Group” that would help test the UI/UX, provide feedback, and suggest feature requests for the various projects approved by the DAO. I’ve been pleased with the amount of responses I’ve received so far.

If this sounds like something you’re interested in, you can head over to Discourse and comment on my post to be added to the group. Alternatively, can you reply to this tweet below.

Former Apecoin DAO Special Council Member Maaria continues to keep the community informed on what is happening across the Web3 community with her weekly newsletter. This week, she provided a recap of the year in review. You can also subscribe to the full version here.

Thanks for reading this week’s edition! As mentioned above, a lot of ideas are being proposed on the Discourse forum nearly every day. If you have one of your own and are unsure where to begin, please reach out to me so I can help you get started.
