The Bulletin Bored: Three Interesting Ideas from Discourse
(Issue 8)
While no new proposals went up for a vote last Thursday, there have still been some interesting discussions happening in the Discourse forum. If you haven’t already, be sure to check it out, create a profile, and interact with members from the community. Let’s take a look at a couple recent ideas that caught my eye.
Apecoin DAO Newsletter
One of the co-founders of the Cartan moderator team, Brandon Caruana, posted an idea for an Apecoin DAO newsletter last week and it immediately caught my attention. From offering analysis on proposals to highlighting accomplishments by different members, the newsletter is a great way to keep people informed on what goes on inside the DAO. It’s also a great step towards have more centralized communication so we don’t have to check four or five different apps/webpages to stay up-to-date on what’s happening in the DAO.
Festival
Early last week, Discourse forum member ssp1111 proposed having a festival event where all of the NFT communities involved in the event are together in one location. The current logistics of the events scheduled around NFT NYC lead to events being more spread out across the city, requiring a lot of planning to find venues and figure out transportation to and from each event. The proposed festival would cut out a lot of the planning overhead and allow a simpler experience for both hosts and attendees. Ssp1111 is an event producer at Coachella who can draw on past experiences to lead conversations on the proposed Web3 festival.
Rewarding Active Participation
Another thing that has been on my mind a lot the past few months has been how we increase activity and participation within the DAO. Discourse forum member ASEC proposed an interesting idea to reward members with NFTs from a new collection for voting on proposals.
It’s no secret we need much more participation to create a healthy environment where we are confident we are working together in the best interest of the DAO. Right now, too much voting power is concentrated in the hands of a select few because there is a large amount of Apecoin DAO participants not voting on proposals.
It is also crucial we ensure the quality of discussion and ideas remains high. If people are posting low-quality content just to receive participation rewards a lot of members are likely to become burnt out by either feeling like they have to constantly post and engage or having to sift through so many topics and messages. A balance between quantity and quality will be ideal here.
Thanks for reading this week’s edition. Be sure to check back in next week to stay up-to-date on what is happening inside the Apecoin DAO community.
