The Bulletin Bored: Steward Elections & 6 AIPs

(Issue 37)

Welcome back for another issue of The Bulletin Bored, where I provide news, analytics, and other information on the Apecoin DAO and broader BAYC ecosystem.

It’s another busy week in the DAO, with Steward elections currently in progress and 6 AIPs up for a vote as well. As you read through this week’s issue, you will notice I submitted my application to be a Steward of Working Group 0. I would highly appreciate your vote if you think I’m a worthy candidate.

  • Steward Elections are currently being held and close on 1/18 at 6PM PST

  • 6 AIPs (Ape Improvement Proposals) are currently up for a vote from now until 1/18 at 6PM PST

Working Group 0 formed as a result of AIP-196 with goals to 1) run an RFP process to find a new DAO Administrator, 2) propose future Working Group guidelines and objectives, and 3) delegate WG0 responsibilities to these working groups. As part of WG0, seven Stewards are being selected to lead and report on these activities.

The first three Stewards were selected by the Special Council. There is currently an election being held for the other four Stewards. We have 18 candidates (including myself) for this election.

Please see the Tweet below to learn more about my values and where you can go to vote.

AIP-175 from this past week had the 6th-highest voting power for any proposal in the DAO. I’ll be monitoring voter engagement levels closely over the next few weeks.

There are six proposals in the Live Voting stage this week. Voting for each ends at 6 PM PST on Wednesday 1/18.

This proposal aims to take AIP-134 one step further and establish a Bug Bounty Program for any project that includes Smart Contract risk. Unlike AIP-134 that utilized Llama to coordinate, AIP-155 would utilize Solidity.io.

The overall budget includes 1 million ApeCoin, broken down as follows:

  • 20,000 ApeCoin paid to Solidity.io upfront for operating the ongoing program on behalf of the DAO

  • 20,000 ApeCoin annually for each year the program runs with the first year paid 6-months following launch and every 12-months after

  • 10% performance fee paid to Immunefi on any vulnerabilities discovered (i.e. if a white hat hacker is paid $100,000 for a bug they discovered, Immunefi would receive $10,000)

  • The remaining portion of the budget not listed above would go directly to white hat hackers or stay in the Ecosystem Fund if not used

Below is some additional information Zach shared last week.

You can find the full proposal here and the current voting results are below.

You might remember the Forever Apes team from AIP-112. They are back again, this time with a proposal to produce and document global street art installations. This AIP also mentions they would consolidate all new and existing street art on an Otherside inspired website.

The total cost would be 41,000 ApeCoin and you can find a full cost breakdown link in their proposal here.

This proposal aims to add context to the community by making it easier to share who you are, what you’ve done, and represent it to your community.

The proposal states Catapult will contribute 100% of their time and labor at zero cost to the DAO. However, it is requesting an allocation of 10,000 ApeCoin for member-onboarding incentives.

**Disclaimer: I was part of the Proposal Steering Committee on this AIP. I provided input on the proposal but did not receive any type of compensation for it.

CodeIsLight uncovered and suggested improvements to the gas optimization feature of Horizen Labs’ “Vested Airdrop” project. The AIP includes a “proposed reward [of] a floor BAYC, equivalent to 10% of the funds saved upfront.”

You can find the full proposal, including more technical details, here and the current voting results are below.

This proposal is seeking to create a community-wide contest to create a race car design and have it be used during Daytona Week (which is held in the middle of February). The overall cost would be $165,000.

You can find the full proposal here and the current voting results are below.

This proposal aims to setup a dashboard to highlight contributor stats such as:

  • High-level voting summary

  • Delegate commitment message

  • Delegate voting reasons

  • Discourse form plug-in

  • Governance stats

The cost of the proposal would be $10,000 to cover development costs for a custom dashboard, plug-ins, and on-going infrastructure and maintenance.

You can find the full proposal here and the current voting results are below.

You can also hear directly from the AIP Authors about their proposals here:

AIP-191, proposed by Badteeth, aims to generate a clear, specific and defined mission statement and objectives to generate a “North Star” to unite the DAO and help members get on the same page. This has been one of the first tasks of Working Group 0. It has been fun listening to feedback from the community in a few Focus Group calls we’ve had so far in the Working Group 0 Discord server.

You can check out the full proposal here.

Some of you might remember ApeTalent from AIP-91. Their platform is now live and they have begun issuing a #TalentOfTheWeek segment where they highlight a member of the community.

I’m honored to be the first member selected. If you haven't checked out their site yet, make sure you head over to fill out your profile and connect with other members of the community.

Former Apecoin DAO Special Council Member Maaria continues to keep the community informed on what is happening across the Web3 community with her weekly newsletter. Below are some of the updates from her most recent issue. You can subscribe to the full version here.

  • PleasrDAO is launching a series of live NFT auctions featuring notable figures such as Edward Snowden and Daniel Ellsberg.

  • The SEC announced charges against Gemini and Genesis, alleging that Gemini Earn is an unregistered security that bypassed disclosure laws. Genesis held $900 million of Gemini Earn deposits and couldn’t meet liquidity demands after the collapse of FTX.

Thanks for reading this week’s edition! As mentioned above, a lot of ideas are being proposed on the Discourse forum nearly every day. If you have one of your own and are unsure where to begin, please reach out to me so I can help you get started.
