The Bulletin Bored: Special Council Nomination Process Begins

(Issue 27)

Contributions to this week's newsletter made by @maariabajwa

Welcome back for another issue of The Bulletin Bored, where I provide news, analytics, and other information on the Apecoin DAO and broader BAYC ecosystem.

It’s a big day in the Apecoin DAO. The Special Council Nomination & Election process begins today and runs until December 28th. Check out the full timeline of events below.

  • The Apecoin DAO had representatives at the ETHGlobal event held this past weekend in San Francisco, CA

  • The Mutant Cartel hosted an event in London last week during the week of NFT London

  • Boring Security launches new security articles section

Austin Green, one of the co-founders of the Llama team who has been tasked with helping coordinate the Bug Bounty Program from AIP-134, has made a Discourse introductory post here. You can follow along there for updates on the Bug Bounty and I will be including updates in my newsletter going forward.

The chart below highlights the percent of votes that have been delegated for each of the first 32 Apecoin DAO proposals. I was surprised by how high this percentage has been, especially the recent surge of delegated votes.

This proposal aims to expand token utility to other NFT communities, such as Meebits, and develop a more efficient way to issue micro-grants to community projects than the current AIP process.

It proposes creating 13 micro-grants of 1,000 Apecoin each to be distributed to winners of the various voting periods. Anyone would be able to submit proposals and Meebits NFT holders would be able to vote on them.

Below are the current voting results.

This proposal looks to fund a series of events to educate people about Web3 concepts. Below are the events the Ed3 team has planned:

This proposal is requesting $84,951, broken down below.

Here are the current voting results.

After the DAO voted on three marketplace proposals back in September, Rarible is the fourth marketplace proposal to enter the live voting stage. Below are some key concepts from their proposal.

Here are the current voting results.

Lior and the team at Catapult have put together a proposal to create a tool for the DAO to help people connect with each other and share information such as who they are and what they’ve done. It also aims to make the onboarding process easier and less intimidating for new members of the DAO.

This proposal includes potential integrations with Discourse, Discord, Coordinape, Snapshot, Dune Analytics, and other DAO projects.

The Catapult team is willing to contribute 100% of their time and labor at zero cost to the DAO. Instead, they are requesting an allocation of 10,000 Apecoin for member onboarding incentives. This would include sending 2 Apecoin to the first 5,000 DAO members who go through the onboarding flow and build a profile. The team also mentions providing other incentives, like POAPs, at no cost to the DAO.

Below is a list of recent backers of Catapult.

The Catapult team has also put together a Proposal Steering Committee, which currently consists of the following people and is open to anyone from the community to join.

I am a member of the proposal steering committee and my role is to read proposal drafts, ask questions about them, and provide feedback on them. Some of the questions I have asked have been incorporated into the most recent draft of the proposal.

Here is a Full Profile mockup the team provided in their proposal.

I touched upon this in the “ Bored Ecosystem News” section up above, but I wanted to highlight it again here. The Boring Security team continues to build and help push the Web3 space forward.

They recently built a new articles section to post and maintain up-to-date articles about security and best practices. Some examples are included in the tweet thread below.
