The Bulletin Bored: Special Council Nomination Period Comes to a Close

(Issue 29)

Contributions to this week's newsletter made by @maariabajwa

Welcome back for another issue of The Bulletin Bored, where I provide news, analytics, and other information on the Apecoin DAO and broader BAYC ecosystem.

The Special Council election season is heating up and figures to be the main focus of the DAO over the next month. The nomination period closed yesterday and the process now moves into the KYC and verification phase. Nomination profiles will be posted on Discourse and open for community discussion starting next Monday (11/28).

  • Art Basel Miami is scheduled for December 1 - 3; multiple BAYC community events to be held during that time as well

As mentioned in the introduction, the Special Council application process officially closed yesterday. Beginning today, we are now in the KYC and verification process for all received applications, which concludes on November 27th.

As we wait for this part of the process to play out, check out the thread below to learn more about some of the candidates. I will continue to add people to this thread as they announce their candidacy and fill out their “mini-resume.”

If you follow me on Twitter, you have likely seen me mention the need to streamline the proposal process, specifically the AIP Draft phase. Below is a breakdown of how many days each proposal has taken in that phase.

The number of active AIP Drafts currently sits around 30. While manageable for now, we need to make some adjustments to prepare for the day we start we seeing 100+ active AIP Drafts.

Each week, I will be sitting down with a member of the DAO to talk about their web3 journey, how they got involved with the DAO, and anything else they want to share with you all.

There was a scheduling issue on my end so no episode this week. Next week, I will sit down the Brandon Caruana, Co-Founder of the Cartan Moderator team for the Apecoin DAO.

This proposal aims to add the following to increase transparency in the DAO.

  • Cost disclosure: The Ape Foundation will modify the contents displayed on the Snapshot voting page to move the “Overall Cost” up near the top so it is easily visible.

  • Team members: The Ape Foundation will modify the template provided to AIP proposers when drafting Ecosystem Fund Allocation AIPs, mentioning the compulsory nature of Team Members description. The Ape Foundation will also ensure this information is provided.

  • Monthly reporting: The Ape Foundation will publish, via Apecoin DAO Twitter’s page, monthly reporting on fund allocation for each approved AIP.

Below are the current voting results.

The proposal puts forth a Comms Team whose main responsibilities will include:

  • Build and maintain an official ApeCoin DAO Discord server

  • Coordinate ApeCoin DAO Twitter for AIP awareness & education

  • Develop educational content for the community & support members during the AIP process

  • Administer the lines of communication between Ape Foundation Entities & the ApeCoin DAO community

  • Increase coverage of the Apecoin DAO ecosystem and cooperate with media contacts

Below are the current voting results.

The Forever Apes team has four proposals on Discourse. One of them involves a free-to-claim LEGO BrickHeadz for those who retweet their curated Tweet.

Listen below to find out more. You can also check out the full proposal here.

The Meebits Prop House that was recently approved in AIP-110 is now live and submissions for the first round are currently underway. Check out additional details below.

  • NFT marketplace X2Y2 announced it would begin enforcing creator royalties, reversing an earlier decision of optional royalties. OpenSea confirmed it was enforcing creator royalties last week.

  • Nike is debuting a new Web3 platform on Polygon called .Swoosh, where customers can collect digital wearables and collaborate on creating new collections.

  • Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen called for regulatory oversight of crypto markets, noting that her department's reports in September on digital assets outlined many of the risk factors that led to FTX’s demise. US lawmakers in both the House and Senate plan to hold hearings with FTX executives to discuss circumstances around the exchange’s collapse.

  • Paradigm and a16z filed an amicus brief in the lawsuit against Ooki DAO, alleging that the CFTC’s method of serving the DAO via a chatbot was illegal. A hearing is set for November 30th.

Thanks for reading this week’s edition! As mentioned above, a lot of ideas are being proposed on the Discourse forum nearly every day. If you have one of your own and are unsure where to begin, please reach out to me so I can help you get started.
