🗞️ The Bulletin Bored: Moar Voting 🗳️

Issue 73

Welcome back for another issue of The Bulletin Bored, where I provide news, analytics, and other information on the Apecoin DAO. Once again, it was a busy week in the DAO. Seven AIPs completed the voting process last week, five more AIPs and the mission statement finalists are up for a vote this week, and there were four additional Ape Assembly votes posted last week. That’s a lot of voting. This week’s issue covers each plus a few more updates across the community.

Assembly Update

The Ape Assembly held its eighth meeting last Wednesday (9/20). Here are the notes from the meeting:

There were also four more votes published to Snapshot, with three now closed and one still active for another two days. Head to Snapshot to cast your vote.

Chart of the Week

It was a historic week of voting, as we not only had the most live AIPs (7) of any week in the history of the DAO, but they were 7 of the 9 highest total voting power in the history of the DAO as well.

You’ll also notice the number of wallets voting (second column from right) were significantly lower than the proposals from March 2022. Is this due to increased delegation?

AIP Live Voting

There are five proposals as well as the final round of Mission Statement voting in the Live Voting stage this week. Voting ends at 6 PM PST on Wednesday 9/27. You can view the proposals and vote on Snapshot here.

AIP-263: Merch Apes // Free Luxury ApeCoin Varsity Jackets

This proposal seeks funding for a limited-edition varsity jacket. It would include the following steps to implement and the production process would take around one to two months.

  1. Create a mockup design for the varsity jacket (Completed)

  2. Formulate a survey to estimate production quantity (In Progress)

  3. Collaborate with manufacturers to produce an initial run of up to 100 units (1 - 2 months) (In Progress)

  4. Develop a website that exclusively accepts ApeCoin as a form of payment (Not Started)

  5. Host a raffle to distribute ~5 jackets among community members holding at least 250 ApeCoin tokens (Not Started)

  6. Work with the Apecoin Twitter account to promote the varsity jacket (Not Started)

  7. Make the remaining varsity jackets available on the website on a first-come, first-served basis (Not Started)

This proposal is requesting no funding from the DAO but it would cost an individual around $669 to purchase one jacket. You can find the full proposal here and the current voting results are below.

AIP-269: Request for Use of Apecoin Digital License in Order to Create and Sell Merchandise

This proposal seeks to grant Livefast9986 a one-year license for the commercialized use of the ApeCoin logo and its derivatives. The usage would be for producing and selling merchandise, including patches, t-shirts, and hoodies.

Livefast9986 would be eligible to hire artists to create new derivative art of the ApeCoin logo for commercialized use and the merchandise created and sold would have the primary goal of being affordable (ex. ~$25-$35 t-shirts). The proposal would also include requests for Tweets to be occasionally retweeted by the official ApeCoin Twitter account.

This proposal is requesting no funding from the DAO. You can find the full proposal here and the current voting results are below.

AIP-305: Establishing Special Council's Accountability Practices

This proposal requests weekly reports from the Special Council members including all current, forthcoming, and future terms detailed in AIP-137. It would create a “Transparency Hub” section on the Forum to house these reports.

This proposal is requesting no funding from the DAO. You can find the full proposal here and the current voting results are below.

AIP-316: Fantasy MMORPG Game - Powered Exclusively By ApeCoin

This proposal is requesting 1) funding and 2) written permission or a licensing agreement for the use of the ApeCoin logo for Alganon, a fantasy MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) with PvE (Player vs. Environment) and PvP (Player vs. Player) elements.

Alganon is a completed game that would retain its pre-existing gameplay elements and have specific Web3 elements integrated, such as:

  • Ethereum-based blockchain back-end

  • Integrated Web3 wallets

  • Tokenomics

  • NFT marketplace

The ApeCoin token would be the exclusive cryptocurrency token for the game for a period of 12 months and the ApeCoin token and DAO would be included in the game’s marketing efforts. The proposed timeline would include development and implementation builds (Alpha, Beta, Release Candidate) with an estimated final release date in Q3 or Q4 of 2024.

The total grant request would be $500,000, broken down as follows:

  • $300,000 (1 year, renewable upon request*)

  • $200,000 (one-time)

*Would be renewable upon request at the sole discretion of the Ape Foundation or the Metaverse Working Group and at the same $300K cost, within 90 days of current term expiration. No subsequent AIP would be required.

You can find the full proposal, including a detailed cost breakdown, here and the current voting results are below.

The GWG would take on the following Objectives & Key Results (OKRs) to be achieved by the next Funding Window in February of 2024.
