The Bulletin Bored: Merch + Areas of Improvement

(Issue 7)

This week, we saw one proposal put up for a vote: Papasito’s Ape Foundation Merch. To put it bluntly, this proposal did not go over well with the community. They were against a line in the proposal that granted Papasito access to $130k to use at his discretion for the merch project.

Communication Lacking

The DAO seems a bit unorganized to start. AIP-7 (Restructure the Forum Categories) was a great idea to organize the Discourse into a more organized and easy-to-follow menu, but there is still much more we can do to improve our communication within the DAO.

We have too many methods of communication, including Twitter, Discourse, and Discord. It’s hard to keep up-to-date on all of them, even for someone like me who checks these things way too much throughout the day. We can’t tell someone not to use one service or another though. Maybe this is a situation where most discussion eventually flows to a more centralized location over time.

Community Leadership

In addition to a lack of structured communication, there seems to be a disconnect between the Discourse moderators and the Apecoin DAO community. Expectations have been different between the two so far, likely due to the DAO still being in its infancy.

Having someone from within the Apecoin DAO community be a part of this moderator team could help close this gap and get everyone on the same page. This community member could work with the current Moderator team to help organize discussions, streamline processes, and be a voice for the community.

There are a lot of great minds among us, but we have gotten off to a bit of a bumpy start. Hopefully these are just growing pains, but we need more structure, organization, and processes put in place so expectations can be set for the community.

Thanks for reading this week’s edition. Talk to you again next week!
