The Bulletin Bored: Memes/GIFs and the DAM Show

(Issue 40)

Welcome back for another issue of The Bulletin Bored, where I provide news, analytics, and other information on the Apecoin DAO. Working Group Zero and Dookey Dash were the two main topics of discussion again this week. Read below to find updates on both plus an overview on the one proposal currently up for a vote this week.

  • There are two days left in the Dookey Dash competition

  • The third and final round of the Meebits PropHouse from AIP-110 begins today and voting will be open for two weeks

The current focus of Working Group Zero is 1) the RFP process to find a new DAO Administrator and 2) finalizing a DAO Mission Statement. If you are interested in being a part of these discussions, you can join the Discord server.

The Delegation site built by Brian Wagner and Maaria Bajwa is now live. If you would like to delegate your votes to me or someone else, you can find the link below.

Using Individual Wallet Percentage to decide votes would be a drastic change. Doing so would have resulted in 17 additional proposals passing so far.

There is one proposal in the Live Voting stage this week. Voting ends at 6 PM PST on Wednesday 2/8.

This proposal aims to create an iOS/Android/Web app to allow users to create visuals, banners, stickers, memes, and GIFs with their digital assets.

This proposal includes an estimated cost of $135,000 and an estimated timeline of 20 weeks, which includes four stages:

  • Mobile app infrastructure & web app with editor functionality

  • iOS app with editor functionality

  • Android app with editor functionality

  • Web3 Creative Studio Premium & Apecoin integration for premium features

You can find the full proposal here and the current voting results are below.

The DAM Show submitted an AIP idea this past week to fund the next two phases of their show. They are asking for $75,000 USD (~12,111 Apecoin) to fund the following:

  • Phase 1: 4 weeks of Live gameshow giveaways leading up to the Second Trip

  • Phase 2: Crossing the chasm, as the proposal states “so that our reach is large enough to attract sponsorships so that The DAM Show can become a self-sustaining operation”

You can check out the full proposal, including a detailed cost breakdown, here.

Are you a content creator or artist? Beyond The Swamp, from recently passed AIP-169, is currently looking for contributors.

Each week, I’m going to sit down with a member of the DAO to learn more about their web3 story. Lost is first up this week. He’s a Steward of WG0, member of the ApeComms team, and a BAYC OG. You can also catch him advocating for the Orange Apes on Spaces and across Twitter. 🍊

Here is a recording of when he and I chatted back in October. Listen in to learn more about his background and Hodlr Collective project.

Former Apecoin DAO Special Council Member Maaria continues to keep the community informed on what is happening across the Web3 community with her weekly newsletter. Below are some of the updates from her most recent issue. You can subscribe to the full version here.

  • NounsDAO is creating an NFT-based comic book series that will be redeemable for physical copies. Nouns has done multiple partnerships over the past year with brands such as the Australian Open, the Rose Parade and Budweiser.

  • Social token platform Rally said it was shutting down its creator NFT side chain. The shut down will effectively destroy all the digital assets it contains.

  • Delegate Cash, a protocol that allows users to delegate NFT rights to a separate wallet for security purposes, is being used to secure more than $400 million worth of NFTs across 4,300 wallets.

  • No-fee NFT marketplace Blur created a new marketplace contract on OpenSea’s protocol, allowing it to circumvent OpenSea’s policy of block-listing platforms that do not enforce creator royalties.

  • The UK plans to regulate digital asset activities including trading, lending, and custody under the same rules as traditional financial services.

  • YouTube star Logan Paul has been named in a proposed class-action lawsuit over NFT sales for a project called CryptoZoo. The suit alleges that Paul and his associates promoted the project as a game with future utility but neither materialized.

  • OpenSea launches a new suite of tools for creators, including smart contract deployment, configurable drop mechanics, and personalized landing pages. The features aren’t available to the public yet.

  • A large image of a wizard promoting "magic internet JPEGs" was mined on the Bitcoin blockchain using the Ordinals protocol, prompting a heated debate over whether the Bitcoin network should be used for more than traditional payment transactions.

  • Mastercard's former NFT product lead resigned after two years, noting mismanaged processes and internal inefficiencies.

  • Hollywood agency UTA signed Bobby Kim, co-creator of the NFT collection Adam Bomb Squad.

Thanks for reading this week’s edition! As mentioned above, a lot of ideas are being proposed on the Discourse forum nearly every day. If you have one of your own and are unsure where to begin, please reach out to me so I can help you get started.
