(Issue 86)

Welcome back for another issue of The Bulletin Bored, where I provide news, analytics, and other information on the Apecoin DAO. Elections are over, for now. Congratulations again to the winners from this past week:

I hope you all enjoy a short break and time with your families this Holiday Season and I appreciate you reading this during the break. This week’s issue includes an updated schedule and an overview on the three proposals up for a vote this week.

Thanks for reading today’s edition! I pour my heart into this every week. If you find this newsletter helpful, it would mean a lot to me if you could recommend it to a friend to help me grow my network. You can also subscribe for free below.

Stat of the Week

As requested by a reader, let’s take another look at the “AIP Approval Rate By Amount Requested” table from a couple weeks ago.

Throughout the 21 month history of the DAO, there has been a big difference in approval rates depending on how much of a grant has been requested. According to the table above, proposals requesting less than $1,000 have been approved at nearly an 80% rate so far while those requesting $10,000 or more have an approval rate of just under 31%.

AIP Live Voting

There are three proposals in the Live Voting stage this week. Voting ends at 6 PM PST on Wednesday 12/27. You can view the proposals and vote on Snapshot here.

AIP-360: ApeCast - An app that supercharges your listening experience for all things ApeCoin and keeps you informed

This proposal is requesting funding for “ApeCast,” a mobile app which would be released on both iOS and Android. It would include the following features:

  • Listening Library: Spaces and other recordings organized by source

    • It would contain summaries and searchable transcriptions for each episode

  • Notification Center: Opt-in area for push notifications such as

    • New Spaces episodes

    • New proposals

    • Voting results

    • GWG announcements

  • Proposals: Historical archive of completed and live proposals

    • Would include translated text

  • Translations: Done using an AI Tool

    • Initial set of supported languages would include French, Simplified Chinese, and Spanish

It is requesting 75,000 ApeCoin. You can find the full proposal, including a detailed cost breakdown, here and the current voting results are below.

AIP-362: Establish bi-monthly AIP voting periods

AIP live voting is currently done on a weekly cadence and each voting period lasts six days. This proposal would change that cadence to bi-monthly (twice a month) and the voting period would be adjusted to 14 days. Each voting period would commence on the first and third Thursdays of each month.

The proposal also includes a note saying the Ape Foundation would still reserve the right to modify a voting period at its discretion (e.g. emergencies, risks to the DAO, election timing, etc.) while providing reasonable notice to the community.

You can find the full proposal here and the current voting results are below.

AIP-373: Boring Security - Runnin’ It Back

This proposal is requesting $239,000 for 2024. The Boring Security team would deploy funds into a Uniswap V3 Liquidity Pool where the Boring Security DAO would attempt to take structured withdrawals from yield generated month over month to cover its operating expenses not covered by partnership income and other grants.

In addition, this proposal would include the following goals and milestones:

  1. Grow alumni circle

    1. Maintain operations of 10-15 instructor-led live classes every month

    2. Continue active outreach to existing Web 3 communities including gaming, DeFi, artists, and trading communities

    3. Develop classes and materials in multiple languages

  2. Service existing community

    1. Enhance community engagement infrastructure

    2. Build new experiences periodically to re-engage and further inform Alumni

    3. Elevate security content into new media forms including long & short-form videos

  3. Scale education to new and other market participants

    1. Revamp website to become a comprehensive learning gateway for web3 players of all levels via an asynchronous learning platform

    2. Shepherd unique experiences to make security “fun” (including events such as simulated hacks, hands-on learning opportunities, and other gateway events)

    3. Come up with novel incentivization mechanics that would mobilize and empower core community to take part in forwarding Boring Security’s mission of spreading security education (examples: Leaderboard mechanics, Referrals, Prophouse, Thrivecoin, etc.)

You can find the full proposal, including a detailed cost breakdown, here and the current voting results are below.

AIP Completed Voting

There were four proposals that completed the voting process last Wednesday. Here are the final results for each:
