The Bulletin Bored: Made By Apes

Issue 67

Welcome back for another issue of The Bulletin Bored, where I provide news, analytics, and other information on the Apecoin DAO. This past week, I received the honor of having my Made By Apes application approved. With license 42 in hand, I’m motivated to continue building out this newsletter, my analytics dashboard, and other content I have planned. Thanks for supporting me on this journey to keep the community up-to-date on the ApeCoin DAO and what we are building. 🙏

Bored News

Secretary Corner

Below are this week’s Milestone Tracker updates, which provide an overview of the progress being made by authors of approved AIPs.

Delegation Domain

Nifty Tailor released a new clothing option for the UK Apes over the weekend.

Assembly Update

The Ape Assembly held it’s sixth meeting on 8/9. Here are the notes from that day. The next meeting is still to be determined.

Chart of the Week

Last week, I charted the evolution of Forum user counts over the past six months. As you can see below, Trust Level 2 and 3 users experienced large increases, especially from 5/11/23 to 7/11/23. I’m guessing Thank Ape and the Ape Assembly were motivators for people to achieve TL2 and TL3.

AIP Live Voting

There are three proposals in the Live Voting stage this week. Voting ends at 6 PM PST on Wednesday 8/16. You can vote on Snapshot here.

AIP-266: Authorise Special Council to issue Directives for more efficient DAO operation

This proposal aims to create a process to implement changes to administrative functions of the DAO by either Special Council themselves or on receipt of a request from any other member of the DAO.

Members of the DAO, including administrative workers, would be able to send an administrative Efficiency Improvement Suggestion (EIS) to request changes to the Apecoin website, Discourse Forum, social media accounts, or any other asset within the ApeCoin DAO or Ape Foundation’s operational control or purview and where no funding would be requested for implementation.

The proposal requests to seed ApeForLife in the “Drafter” role for 24 months. This role would draft the directives and reasons of Special Council rejection or approval as per Special Council instructions. A 2,000 ApeCoin grant would be given to the Drafter every month during that two year time period.

You can find the full proposal, including a detailed cost breakdown, here and the current voting results are below.

AIP-268: ApeCoin DAO Voting Adoption Driven by Good Month Labs

This proposal requests to enable Good Month Labs to utilize its Cake platform to create a custom dApp to incentivize adoption of governance by allowing the audience of the Never Fade podcast to earn ApeCoin.

Below is the timeline provided by the author, with work that would extend into February of next year.

The author is requesting $69,420, broken down as follows.

AIP-289: Designing a Mascot for Apecoin

This proposal aims to create an ape-inspired mascot for the Apecoin DAO. The mascot would take four months to complete, with the following milestones taken directly from the proposal:

Month 1:

  • Research and concept development for the mascot design

  • Seek input and ideas from the community through surveys or open discussions

  • Create various sketches and further design drafts for review and feedback

Months 2-3:

  • Refine the mascot design based on community feedback

  • Develop final mascot illustrations and 3D model (in collaboration)

  • Create a style guide and usage guidelines for the mascot

Month 4:

  • Conduct a final review and minor adjustments based on community input

  • Finalize the mascot design and prepare other necessary graphic assets

  • Present the completed mascot design to the DAO community

  • Formal transfer of IP ownership to the DAO

The author is requesting $5,750 to cover the following:

  • Research and initial development of alternative designs

  • Complete development process of the final mascot

  • Style guide development

  • ~15 Discord emojis/stickers

  • ~10 graphic assets for marketing purposes

  • 3D model (in collaboration)

  • Complete transfer of IP ownership to the Apecoin DAO

You can find the full proposal, including a detailed cost breakdown, here and the current voting results are below.

AIP Completed Voting

There were three proposals that completed the voting process last Wednesday. Here are the final results for each:

AIP-218: Rumblerz by Gamed Productions - A stop-motion animation/claymation TV show leveraging existing IP

AIP-250: Development of Staking Service Maximizing Ape Staking Rewards and Flexibility

AIP-295: Protect Snapshot - Must have 1 Apecoin to vote

Thanks for reading this week’s edition! As mentioned above, a lot of ideas are being proposed on the Discourse forum nearly every day. If you have one of your own and are unsure where to begin, please reach out to me so I can help you get started.
