The Bulletin Bored: Hackathons and Forum Sections

(Issue 62)

Welcome back for another issue of The Bulletin Bored, where I provide news, analytics, and other information on the Apecoin DAO. There are two more proposals in the Live Voting stage this week: one focused on a hackathon and another on creating a new section on the Forum. This week’s issue includes an overview of each each plus additional updates across the DAO.

Secretary Update

I continue to reach out to authors of approved AIPs for updates on the milestones they listed in their proposals. The goal is to get the TBD number down to zero so we can figure out exactly what is pending and scheduled and move forward from there. Here is the current Milestone Tracker Snapshot from today.

Ape Assembly Update

Two Ape Assembly meetings are in the books. As we progress further, I’ve created a new page in my Airtable database to track the notes I take during each meeting. You can view the pages below by clicking the link at the bottom of this section.

Chart of the Week

Last week, we saw the lowest percentage of people abstaining on proposals since the Abstain option was first introduced for the DAO.

  • AIP-259: 6.60% Abstained

  • AIP-262: 0.11% Abstained

  • AIP-274: 0.34% Abstained

Over the next several weeks, I’ll be monitoring if this trend continues or if it becomes an outlier.

AIP Live Voting

There are two proposals in the Live Voting stage this week. Voting ends at 6 PM PST on Wednesday 7/13. You can vote on Snapshot here.

AIP-255: $Ape x Innovation: Expanding the $Ape Universe

This proposal is a resubmission of AIP-187 from January. The author cites the following as key differences in this new proposal:

  1. Smaller scope

    1. Rather than seeking funding for several hackathon events, this proposal would focus on one

  2. ApeCoin-centric hackathon product

    1. Would encourage developers to integrate ApeCoin into services, games, and other projects

    2. Mentors from the DAO would be invited to lead sessions

  3. Art installation and product for DAO members

    1. Limited-edition artwork by Ladies of BAYC artist Stellitart in collaboration with local artists

    2. Art would be made into a collectible

  4. Playbook for DAO hackathons/workshops

    1. Would include learning experiences that others could reference when setting up their own hackathons and other learning experiences

The proposal is asking for $28,400. You can find the full proposal, including a detailed cost breakdown, here and the current voting results are below.

AIP-258: Proposal for Creating a Forum Section for AIP Authors Approved by ApeCoin DAO

This proposal aims to add a section titled “AIP Execution and Transparency” to the Forum for authors of AIPs approved by the DAO. It would include the following sections:

  1. Author and Administration Contacts

    1. Links to AIPs

    2. Contact information for authors of approved AIPs

    3. Contact information for members of the ApeCoin DAO Administration team

  2. AIP Implementation Updates

    1. Logs on authors’ activities and implementation status

  3. Author Networking Zone

    1. Closed Discussion for authors of approved AIPs

  4. HR Section for Approved AIPs

This AIP would include no cost and the expected timeline is estimated at 1-3 days. You can find the full proposal here and the current voting results are below.

AIP Completed Voting

There were three proposals that completed the voting process last Wednesday. Here are the final results for each:

AIP-259: Language and Market Focus for ApeCoin DAO in 2024-2025

AIP-262: Add “Benefit to ApeCoin Ecosystem” to AIP Templates

AIP-274: “ApeCoin Powered” & “Powered by ApeCoin” Logo implementation

Thanks for reading this week’s edition! As mentioned above, a lot of ideas are being proposed on the Discourse forum nearly every day. If you have one of your own and are unsure where to begin, please reach out to me so I can help you get started.
