The Bulletin Bored: Get Well Soon Gordo 🧡

(Issue 39)

Contributions to this week's newsletter made by

Welcome back for another issue of The Bulletin Bored, where I provide news, analytics, and other information on the Apecoin DAO.

This past Saturday, Yuga Labs and BAYC Co-Founder Gordon Goner (Wylie Aronow) shared some sad news about his health you can read here. To begin this week’s edition, I wanted to express how thankful I am for all of the work Gordo and the rest of his team have put into making the BAYC community what it is today. I know it’s a cliche but they really have changed countless lives, including mine. The opportunities to meet amazing people, develop friendships, and create projects like this newsletter have been an amazing experience this past year and a half. Gordo, I hope you get better soon. We will all miss you while your take your leave of absence but we are happy you are prioritizing your health. We can’t wait for the day you’re able to spend more time with us again. 🙏 🦍 🧡

  • The BAYC Council is hosting its first Twitter Space later today (1/30)

  • Dookey Dash is in full swing with just under 9 more days left to play; here are the current top 5 scores

With two months left in the timeline set in AIP-196, Working Group Zero still has plenty of work ahead to accomplish the goals it proposed back in late December. Below are some of the priorities of the group for the week ahead:

  • Develop and finalize Mission Statement

  • Conduct RFP process for new DAO Administrator

The Delegation site built by Brian Wagner and Maaria Bajwa is now live. You can find the link below, as well as my delegation statement.

The past week of voting participation was the lowest in the DAO since 11/9. I’ll be monitoring this closely over the next few weeks to see if this was an outlier or the start of a new trend.

There are four proposals in the Live Voting stage this week. Voting for each ends at 6 PM PST on Wednesday 2/1.

This proposal hopes to produce a bi-monthly collectible magazine. Columns would include various topics such as DAO-led initiatives, successful AIPs, use cases, brands utilizing IP, meetup group info, augmented reality, and much more.

This proposal is seeking a one-time grant for development and first-issue production with an overall cost of $52,500. The initial roll-out would include 350 copies of issue one, 500 copies of issue two, and 750 copies of issues three through six. If this proposal were to pass, the team anticipates it taking 10-12 weeks for the first issue to be released.

You can find the full proposal here and the current voting results are below.

This proposal aims to expand web3 access by 1) continuing outreach to educators and students to build on prior engagement in Moldova 2) expanding web3 learning experiences and 3) launching three additional Hackathons this year.

It is asking for $71,000 with costs including Hackathon Development, Workshop Development, a three-month Mentorship Program, and travel expenses.

You can find the full proposal, including a detailed cost breakdown, here and the current voting results are below.

This proposal looks to add an “Abstain” option, in addition to the existing “In Favor” and “Against” options, to allow voters and delegates to participate in voting without having to take a side.

You can find the full proposal here and the current voting results are below.

This proposal aims to add transparency to the AIP process by adding an overview chart to Discourse that lets the community know which step in the process each proposal is in. Clicking the numbers in these charts would open a pop-up modal that lists each proposal in that particular status.

You can find the full proposal here and the current voting results are below.

In the beginning of January, FoxSlightly proposed an idea to add an “Individual User Vote” metric to the Snapshot voting site. I manually calculate this value as part of my analysis, but this proposal would allow these values to automatically display on Snapshot both during and after the vote via plugin.

You can check out the full proposal here.

The Beta Testing Program is up and running with the first platform, ApeTalent, ready to test. Anyone is able to participate and if you would like to do so you can find the instructions on Discourse here.

Former Apecoin DAO Special Council Member Maaria continues to keep the community informed on what is happening across the Web3 community with her weekly newsletter. There is no issue this week, but you can subscribe to her full version here.

Thanks for reading this week’s edition! As mentioned above, a lot of ideas are being proposed on the Discourse forum nearly every day. If you have one of your own and are unsure where to begin, please reach out to me so I can help you get started.
