Assembly Update

The Ape Assembly held its 9th meeting last Wednesday. You can view the notes below to see the topics discussed.

Chart of the Week

This past week, I posted a series of Tweets which suggested engagement across the DAO might be down. The amount of Regular (Trust Level 3) Forum users, AIPs in process, and wallets voting on proposals have all decreased the past month or two.

However, DAO members like 12GAUGE and Lost astutely pointed out there are several factors in play here. AIP-295 (Must Have 1 ApeCoin to Vote) being implemented this past week likely contributed to the decline in wallets voting on proposals and the speed at which Facilitators and Special Council have been reviewing proposals has likely been a factor in the decrease in AIPs on the Forum. Increased delegation has likely factored into the decrease in wallets voting on proposals as well.

That being said, I believe itā€™s prudent to have these discussions as we continue to learn, make improvements to DAO processes, and strive to have positive and engaging vibes across the DAO.

AIP Live Voting

There are three proposals in the Live Voting stage this week. Voting ends at 6 PM PST on Wednesday, 10/11. You can view the proposals and vote on Snapshot here.

AIP-298: Transforming Lives with a $100K Donation - Apecoin DAO and W3 Labs Take Action for Positive Change

This proposal is requesting the DAO to match a $50,000 donation to be potentially made by W3 Labs, the team behind the creation of dot ape domains on the Ethereum blockchain.

The contribution made by W3 Labs would stem from people registering these dot ape domains. 10% of the registration costs would be transferred to a wallet designated for the DAO. This process would continue until the total contributions from DotApe Labs reached $50,000 or an equivalent within 48 months.

If the contributions reached the $50,000 mark, the DAO would be requested to match this amount for donation. There would be two donation options, which the DAO would vote on:

  1. Beast Philanthropy

  2. The Giving Block

You can find the full proposal, including a detailed cost breakdown, here and the current voting results are below.

AIP-323: Authorise Special Council to issue Directives for more efficient DAO administration

This proposal is a resubmission of AIP-266. This new version would include a reduction in length (and associated grant request) from 24 months down to 6.

Like AIP-266, this proposal aims to create a process to implement changes to administrative functions of the DAO by either Special Council themselves or on receipt of a request from any other member of the DAO.

Members of the DAO, including administrative workers, would be able to send an administrative Efficiency Improvement Suggestion (EIS) to request changes to the ApeCoin website, Discourse Forum, social media accounts, or any other asset within the ApeCoin DAO or Ape Foundationā€™s operational control or purview and where no funding would be requested for implementation.

The proposal requests to seed ApeForLife in the ā€œDrafterā€ role for six months. This role would draft the directives and reasons of Special Council rejection or approval as per Special Council instructions. A 2,000 ApeCoin grant would be given to the Drafter every month during that six-month time period.

You can find the full proposal, including a detailed cost breakdown, here and the current voting results are below.

AIP-329: Official ApeCoin DAO Booth at Animoca Brands Event in HK (Apefest)

This proposal is requesting funding to setup and operate an ApeCoin DAO booth in Hong Kong during ApeFest and participate in the upcoming Animoca Brands event. The booth would seek to showcase ApeCoin utility, foster connections, and ignite discussions around the evolution of Web3 technologies.

The booth would be designed to showcase the DAOā€™s process, approved AIPs, and contributions to the Web3 ecosystem. An Apekin mascot costume would also be designed to engage with the event.

The proposal is requesting $105,000, broken down as follows:

AIP Completed Voting

There were five proposals that completed the voting process last Wednesday. Here are the final results for each:

Thanks for reading this weekā€™s edition! As mentioned above, a lot of ideas are being proposed on the Discourse forum nearly every day. If you have one of your own and are unsure where to begin, please reach out to me so I can help you get started.
