The Bulletin Bored: Elections Begin This Week
(Issue 54)
Welcome back for another issue of The Bulletin Bored, where I provide news, analytics, and other information on the Apecoin DAO. May continues to be busy with multiple elections right around the corner. This week’s issue covers upcoming elections, an update on my AIP Milestone Tracker, and a few other updates.
Applicant Profiles for the Discourse Facilitator position are now being posted to Discourse as the candidates complete KYC (there are currently 10 but this list is not final)
The election period for two Discourse Facilitators begins this Thursday (5/18)
The Governance Working Group Steward Application Period is now open until 5/20; you can apply here
The Special Council Application Period is also open until 5/20; you can apply here
I’ve gone through each of the 46 approved AIPs and have an updated list of milestones posted on my Milestone Tracker Airtable database. Authors have listed a total of 253 milestones across their proposals. Here’s a breakdown of how many fall into each category.
I’m currently reaching out to authors to find current statuses on the TBD items. Stay tuned.
Reminder for authors: You can post in the Discourse thread or fill out this form to let us know of any updates you have.
AIP-233 (A.C.T. on Twitter Spaces – 60 Day trial) from this past week had the highest percentage of votes selecting the Abstain option in the history of the ApeCoin DAO.
There are two proposals in the Live Voting stage this week. Voting ends at 6 PM PST on Wednesday 5/17. You can vote on Snapshot here.
This proposal is a resubmission of AIP-141. The original proposal requested the Ape Foundation to participate in a multi-sig wallet but because the Ape Foundation only provides grants the request was returned for reconstruction and updated to include five members of the community and two from the Forj team.
If this proposal were to pass, projects seeking to utilize the “Ape Accelerator” would require a specific amount of ApeCoin to submit a proposal and holders of ApeCoin or BAYC Ecosystem NFTs would be able to vote and invest in these projects.
The community would be able to participate in the “Ape Launchpad” in the following ways:
As Initiators
would submit proposals
submission and commission fees would be charged to initiators and sent to a multi-sig wallet, which would either be burned or routed to other DAO initiatives based on community voting
As Voters
would vote whether or not to launch projects
would share a percentage of commission from the launchpad sales revenue
As Participants
would be consumers of projects
The overall cost would be $480,000 (given in ApeCoin), broken down as follows:
$300k Development Cost
UI/UX design - $40k
Front-End - $90k
Smart Contract Development - $90k
Contract Deploy & Audit - $80k
$180k Operation Cost ($30k per month for the first six months)
You can find the full proposal, including a detailed cost breakdown, here and the current voting results are below.
This proposal is requesting to create a “decentralized exchange of ERC-20 tokens supported by multi-asset pools that earn liquidity providers fees from market making and swap fees” (quote taken directly from proposal). The core contract functionality would include rewarding liquidity providers in ApeCoin.
The overall cost would be 39,000 ApeCoin.
You can find the full proposal here and the current voting results are below.
There was one proposal that completed the voting process last Wednesday. Here are the final results:
Thanks for reading this week’s edition! As mentioned above, a lot of ideas are being proposed on the Discourse forum nearly every day. If you have one of your own and are unsure where to begin, please reach out to me so I can help you get started.
