The Bulletin Bored: Bonus Content
(Issue 20)
Contributions to this week's newsletter made by @maariabajwa
Welcome back for another issue of the The Bulletin Bored. I also wanted to thank FUDmaster for providing some great suggestions on new features to include and adjustments to make. You’ll see I have added a couple new sections to provide you with a wider range of coverage on what is happening inside the DAO and broader BAYC ecosystem.
While engagement has been lacking the past few months, it has started to pick up a bit here in September. As a result, there are more items to cover this month and I’ve decided to share with you an additional newsletter this week.
Yuga Labs hires Spencer Tucker as its first Chief Gaming Officer
Ape Beverages Pure Spring Water to launch on 9/22
Metaprints “Monkeying Around Sandbox Experience” to launch on 9/30
A few weeks back, I shared a thread highlighting that voter turnouts have been extremely low. One reason for this is the Apecoin held on exchanges is unable to be used in voting. Below is a quick chart from Beetle that shows nearly 12% of the tokens are held on Binance, FTX, and Kucoin. Figuring out a way to include these tokens in the voting process will be huge from a participation standpoint.
Because Monday’s issue already included details on the five proposals currently up for a vote, I won’t repeat any of that information here. Instead, here are the updated voting counts as of now.
Starting next week, I’ll be including follow up conversations with authors of completed AIPs to track the progress of their projects and provide updates to the community. These will include Q&A sessions, informal chats, and potentially links to podcast episodes. I’ll have more details to share next week.
ApeCoin DAO Board Member Maaria continues to keep the community informed on what is happening across the Web3 community. Below are some of the updates from her most recent issue. You can subscribe to the full version here.
The Ethereum Merge took place, bringing the protocol to a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism. Network electricity use by the network fell by 99% with the transition.
Yuga Labs hired its first chief gaming officer from mobile gaming studio Scopely.
New York's Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) is considering buying NFTs with some of the $70 million of proceeds it anticipates generating in an upcoming auction. Purchasing NFTs would be a part of the museum's ongoing digital strategy.
NFT collection Doodle's raised $54 million at a $704 million valuation, in a round led by Seven Seven Six.
Epic Games listed its first NFT game, Blankos Block Party. Developed by Mythical Games, Blankos is a free-to-play multiplayer party game centered collectible digital toys called Blankos, which are NFTs that can be bought, upgraded and sold within the game. Last year, Epic Games competitor Valve said it would not publish games that use NFTs or cryptocurrencies on its Steam marketplace.
NFT renting platform Rentable shut down after failing to find product market fit.
Tribe DAO-- the entity created from a token merger between Rari Capital and Fei Protocol -- confirmed it would repay victims of the Rari hack earlier this year. The DAO has been dealing with repercussions from the hack for months, and recently announced it would be dissolving.
Thanks for reading this week’s edition! As mentioned above, a lot of great ideas are being proposed on the Discourse forum nearly every day. If you have one of your own and are unsure where to begin, please reach out to me so I can help you get started.
