Welcome back for another issue of The Bulletin Bored, where I provide news, analytics, and other information on the Apecoin DAO. What a week it was for the community. We learned when and where ApeFest is, received details on a 2-year MAYC celebration in Miami, and saw 6 more AIPs go up for a vote. This week’s issue covers each plus a few additional updates across the DAO.

• The Ape Foundation has resumed the highly anticipated Transparency Report and has published the initial report here. Additional reports will be released every quarter

• The first round of voting on the DAO Mission Statement has been put on hold until the author can figure out where to host the vote

• ApeFest will be in Hong Kong from 11/3/23-11/5/23

• The BAYC will be celebrating 2 years of the MAYC on 8/26/23

Starting this week, I’ll be including more comprehensive notes with my weekly Milestone Tracker updates I post on Mondays. As “normie” pointed out in Discord last week, it’s important to track the progress being made across the DAO.

As a nod to all of the delegation groups forming across the DAO, I’ve decided to add this section to highlight news and other noteworthy events across these groups. Here’s a list of some initial groups I’ll be tracking with plans to add more:

The Ape Assembly had its third meeting last Wednesday (7/12). You can find the meeting notes here:

The next meeting will be held this Wednesday (7/19) in Discord.

Large delegation groups (ex. Mocaverse, Surreal Guild, UK Ape Club) continue to form and it seems like many DAO members have voter fatigue. This combination has led to around 80% of voting power delegating their vote the past couple weeks, the highest it’s been in the history of the DAO.

AIP-246: Working Group Charter - Marketing & Communications

This proposal builds on the work done in AIP-239 as it proposes a third working group to handle Marketing & Communications. Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to complete before the August funding window would include:

• Detailed Marketing and Communications plan and budget for the 12 months following August 2023

• Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for usage of the ApeCoin DAO Twitter account

• Handle inbound email inquiries via the ApeCoin DAO website

• Continue integration with approved projects / tooling for onboarding and education

This proposal would include no cost. Instead, the three elected Stewards would propose an initial budget 1-3 weeks after being onboarded. You can find the full proposal here and the current voting results are below.

AIP-273: ApeCoin to Co-Sponsor Encode’s upcoming University Hackathon!

This proposal is requesting the DAO to co-sponsor Encode’s upcoming four-week virtual “Future of Blockchain University Hackathon.” Below is the proposed timeline:

• June 2023: Formalize partnerships and set up roles

• Early July 2023: Establish hackathon challenges and prepare workshop content

• Mid-July 2023: Launch marketing campaign

• Late July 2023: Begin Hackathon

• August 2023: Judge submissions and award prizes

• September 2023: Conduct post-event review and reporting

This AIP is asking for $25,000, broken down here:

• Event organization, targeted marketing, hiring support, and other related costs: $12,500

• Prizes to incentivize participants: $12,500

AIP-275: Understanding and Improving the Governance Participation in ApeCoin DAO

This proposal is requesting funding for the following deliverables:

• An analysis report of all governance participants of ApeCoin DAO, including inactive voters

• A CSV file containing all ApeCoin holders and their interests/activity levels, as reflected by the DAOs they vote in

• A brainstorming session with the ApeCoin DAO to create an action plan to onboard inactive voters

It is requesting $15,000, broken down here:

• $5,000: After completion of Milestone 1

  • DeepDAO dives deeper into ApeCoin holders and finalizes the optimal labels & interest categories

  • Length: 4 weeks

• $10,000: After completion of Milestone 2

  • DeepDAO hands over the three deliverables mentioned above

  • Length: 2 weeks

AIP-279: Bored Apes Storm Hollywood (BASH-AIP): Expanding the Ecosystem with Battle-tested IP Veteran and the Batman Producers

This proposal is requesting funding for the creation of an animated series pilot and three spin-off comic books, featuring characters owned by ApeCoin DAO members.

One of the proposal’s goals is to produce a 20-22 minute animated pilot episode over the course of 16-19 months or less. An additional goal is to secure distribution for an 8-10 episode animated season on a major streaming platform.

This team is requesting $300,000 to produce the animated series pilot and three spin-off comics, with the following breakdown:

• 6%: Development (writing & voiceover talent attachment)

• 80%: Production (animation and comic book)

• 10%: Post-production/sound of the animated pilot

• 4%: Legal fees for licensing and production agreements

AIP-280: Exploring New Frontiers: Bring ApeCoin ($Ape) into the Mobile Gaming World

This proposal aims to integrate ApeCoin into Meta Merge, a pet collection and mobile evolution game powered by AIGC and Ultiverse. The integration would provide an ecosystem where players could utilize ApeCoin tokens within the game.

Below is the timeline provided by the author:

• May-June: Strategic Planning + AIP process

• July-Sep: Smart contract development

• Aug-Sep: Testing and Iteration

• Aug-Sep: Marketing and promotion

• September: Official Launch of ApeCoin in the Meta Merge Game

The author is requesting no funds. Instead, they are asking for support from the ApeCoin DAO to implement the proposed integration. You can find the full proposal here and the current voting results are below.

AIP-288: Adopt Shielded Snapshot Voting for Elections and AIPs

This proposal aims to have the DAO adopt shielded voting for elections and AIPs. According to Snapshot, “shielded Voting is a setting in which the voters choices are private during the voting period and get revealed when the proposal closes.”

This proposal would have no cost. You can find the full proposal here and the current voting results are below.
